Scripture reading: Exodus 33:12-23 (ESV)
Moses said to the Lord, “See, you say to me, ‘Bring up this people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’ 13 Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people.”14 And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” 15 And he said to him, “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here.16 For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I and your people? Is it not in your going with us, so that we are distinct, I and your people, from every other people on the face of the earth?”
17 And the Lord said to Moses, “This very thing that you have spoken I will do, for you have found favor in my sight, and I know you by name.” 18 Moses said, “Please show me your glory.” 19 And he said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord.’ And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. 20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.” 21 And the Lord said, “Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock, 22 and while my glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back, but my face shall not be seen.”
Prayer/praise: Psalm 62:1, 5 “Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.”
Key verse: Exodus 33:15 (ESV) “And he said to him, ‘If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here.’”
Today I’m speaking about being quiet before the Lord until His presence manifest. I am talking about His glory and fire, the presence of God. Sometimes we come before God with a bunch of praise that we don’t believe. Or to be nicer put for you, our praise sometimes is full of contamination. Our praise is full of doubt sometimes. It is not an acceptable offering unto God. We need to learn to sit still and be quiet before God sometimes.
The good news is God desires to make Him known to you. It is better to sit still before God quiet and waiting on Him, than to offer up praise full of doubt and a one way conversation.
God is a God of miracles! And He wants to show us things and tell us things that will unlock a miracle in our lives so we can experience many blessings!
Time for everything ECC3:1,7 A time to keep silence and a time to speak.
Zephaniah 1:7a (ESV) “Be silent before the Lord God!”
Stand still in His presence.
Our praise can be so full of doubt and it should not be.
By Christ we offer a sacrifice of praise. Hebrews 13:15 (KJV) “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”
I will not stand before my God and give Him empty praise.
We should give a sacrifice of praise, not praise full of doubt.
Sometimes we need to get before God and just shut up. I’m hurting; I’m passing through some things. God I know you can do it but you have not yet. So instead of saying some words out of my mouth in vain, or that don’t cost me anything. The only thing that might come out is a cry, or the name Jesus! I will get before the King and allow Him to be God.
Broken before God! Psalm 51:17 (ESV) “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”
In these moments I just sat still and waited for God and He would manifest Himself in the fire and glory. In these moments I receive healing, deliverance, comfort, joy, His grace, etc…
Discipline ourselves to be silence before God!
One of the biggest lessons in my life came when I came and sat before God not with empty praise; but seeking Him with my whole heart and I said, “God I’m not moving until you speak to me”! Three and half hours later (approximately) I heard God’s audible voice for the first time in my life. More than that it brought the peace of God into my situation in where I had much fear! Can you be still in God’s presence and know that He is God?
Psalm 37:7 (ESV) “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him: fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his ways, over the man who carries out evil devices!”
A wise man knows when to be silent!
In Luke 10:39 Mary sat at Jesus feet and heard His word. Will you sit in God’s presence and here His word?
Jesus only did what He heard and saw His Father do!
Mark 1:35 (ESV) “And rising very early in the morning; while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.”
Jesus saw and heard what His Father did because He had relationship with Him. There was dialogue, communication. This means He had to be quiet to hear what the Father was saying.
I pray that you will get before God and sit in silence and allow Him to speak to you in the midst of your situation causing you to experience your miracle today! In Jesus name, amen!
Remember to smile God loves you!
